As the in-house legal team of Minera Yanacocha, South America’s largest gold mine, the company’s lawyers cover a wide range of regional legal and regulatory activities involving Peru’s mining and environmental laws.
The company’s legal department has been fundamental to negotiations for expanding Newmont’s Yanacocha mine in Peru.
In July 2018 the legal team participated in talks with Sumitomo Corporation, which allowed the company to finalise its acquisition of 5% interest in Minera Yanacocha.
