The Mondelēz International legal team promotes and protects the organisations’ interests by acting in accordance to its international corporate culture and values. These are to inspire trust, act like owners, keep it simple, remain open and inclusive, tell it like it is, lead from the head and the heart and to discuss, decide and deliver. ‘At Mondelēz International, our seven core values direct us to our goals, decisions and actions. Our strong and effective culture leads us to become the best employer [possible] and achieve top-tier financial performance’, explains senior counsel Ricardo Andres Velarde Friedl, who is responsible for the Pacific cluster including Peru, Bolivia, Chile and Ecuador. Under his management, the legal team gives proactive advice to marketing, regulatory and government affairs for the region. It has accomplished a high level of legal advice provision by complying with local regulations on time, harmonising advertisement and packaging materials across the region, avoiding any risk or exposure for non-compliance and enabling the business to deliver its goals without any substantial economic impact. The legal team has been tasked to support the “Healthy Food Laws” initiative implemented in Latin America by various stakeholders such as politicians and international organisations, in order to promote nutritional regulation in the region. The legal team is instrumental in helping Mondelēz International navigate the areas of advertisement, packaging, and parameters in relation to nutritional limits and promotion of products.
