What are the most significant cases or transactions that you have recently been involved in?
Our team assisted the company in securing an Advanced Electronic Payment and Financial Services (Type ‘A’ EPFS) license from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) for operating the Coins Pro exchange. Additionally, we facilitated BSP approval to pilot a Philippine Peso-backed stablecoin named PHPC under the BSP’s Regulatory Sandbox Framework, both being industry firsts. Furthermore, the team supported the company’s global expansion initiatives.
How do you see the general counsel role evolving in the Philippines over the next five-ten years?

To excel in this dynamic environment, aspiring general counsels must seize every opportunity to learn and broaden their perspectives. This includes continuous legal education, participation in cross-functional teams, and gaining exposure to different aspects of the business. Building strong relationships with key stakeholders, such as board members, executive teams, and external partners, is also essential. These connections enable general counsels to anticipate and navigate potential legal and regulatory challenges effectively, ensuring the company remains compliant and resilient in a rapidly changing world.
