Collins Aerospace
What are the most significant cases or transactions that you have recently been involved in?
As part of one of the largest US manufacturing companies in the Philippines, we have been coordinating heavily with key stakeholders in both the Philippine and US government sectors to further expand our manufacturing capabilities in the Philippine aerospace industry. This partnership has resulted in significant growth and expansion for our Philippine site and is a testament to what can happen when government and private businesses work hand-in-hand to support common goals.
Could you share an example of a time when you came up with an innovation that improved how your legal team works and did not come at a large expense?
Collins Aerospace and its legal team have always been innovative in using software applications to lessen the workload and streamline processes. Over time, our legal team has increasingly relied on technology to get the job done while reducing the overhead costs associated with a large team. The use of technology to automate case management does not need to be costly, as we have access to a very creative digital tech team that developed most of the necessary software.
How do you see the general counsel role evolving in the Philippines over the next five-ten years?
I see the use of technology as the biggest game-changer in the role of general counsel, along with smaller yet more efficient legal teams to support this role. Furthermore, I also see an expanded role and influence for the general counsel, with the position being relied upon more heavily for both commercial advice and guidance.
