What are the most significant cases or transactions that your legal team has recently been involved in?
Our legal team faces the daily challenges of operating in a highly regulated sector. This means that, in addition to being well-versed in all applicable telecommunications legislation, the team must have extensive regulatory knowledge and stay continuously updated on the regulator’s deliberations, new regulations, technical guidelines and recommendations.
This expertise is crucial for our preventive advisory role, ensuring legal and regulatory compliance in the company’s internal processes and procedures, and supporting business decisions in a robust and sustainable manner. It is equally essential in our reactive advisory capacity, as we represent the company in administrative offence proceedings initiated by various entities.
In recent years, one of the most significant projects in terms of legal compliance was the implementation of the new Electronic Communications Law, which transposed the European Electronic Communications Code and came into effect in November 2022 with a short vacatio legis period.
This new legislation required the company to introduce a series of substantial changes to meet the new legal requirements. This effort involved close collaboration with various business areas over nearly a year, resulting in positive outcomes.
Could you share an example of a time when you came up with an innovation that improved how your legal team works and did not come at a large expense?
One example of an innovation that is expected to improve our legal team’s efficiency without incurring large expenses is the introduction of artificial intelligence (AI) tools into our legal processes.
Every team member is attentive and committed to integrate AI solutions whenever they can enhance speed and effectiveness, without compromising the quality and accuracy of our legal work.
What is a cause, business related or otherwise, that you care about, and why?
Throughout my professional journey at NOS, I have developed a deep interest in consumer law. I am passionate about viewing the business through a customer-centric lens, with the goal of achieving ever-higher levels of customer satisfaction regarding the quality of our services.
This focus requires me to stay well-informed and continually updated on our customers’ rights. It is essential to ensure that no procedure is implemented, or initiative executed without a prior assessment of its potential impact on our customers. This involves taking balanced measures in every decision to protect and enhance the customer experience.
I believe that a business thrives when its customers are genuinely satisfied and feel valued. By prioritising consumer rights and focusing on the customer, we can build trust and foster long-term commercial relationships, which are crucial for sustained success.
This approach not only benefits our customers but also strengthens our company’s reputation and market position.
