For Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld, Daniel G. Walsh plays a key role on international transactions around the globe including acquisitions, joint venture and private equity transactions, as well as public and private equity and debt transactions. He gained significant industry credit for his recent contribution to the disposal of a 51 percent stake in Orascom Telecom Algérie, the leading Algerian mobile telecommunication operator, by the Egyptian-listed subsidiary of VEON, Global Telecom Holding, to the Algerian National Investment Fund. Tackling the complexities of Algerian law on company ownership rules for foreign investors on this deal, Walsh helped facilitate a novel structure in which a shareholders’ agreement allowed his client to maintain control of the company despite owning less than 50 percent.
