Roderick Branch is a partner in Latham & Watkins’ Capital Markets and Latin America practice groups. A native of Mexico City, Branch has practiced in New York, Paris and Chicago, typically focusing on capital markets transactions and securities regulation, with an emphasis on securities offerings by non-US issuers. He is recognized as one of the leading US lawyers currently advising on Mexican matters. In 2013, Branch led Latham’s capital markets team representing Mexican company Infraestructura Energética Nova (IEnova), one of the leading private-sector energy companies in Mexico, in its global IPO. As part of this transaction – the first IPO and Mexican Stock Exchange listing by an energy company in Mexican history – Branch led on developing a legal strategy to deal with both IEnova’s obligations as a Mexican reporting company and the overlapping United States SEC obligations of its parent company Sempra Energy. In other matters, 2013 also saw Branch involved in the representation of Indigo Partners (as Delaware selling stockholders) in the high-profile $346.2m registered ADS offering by Mexican airline Volaris, one of the few airline industry IPOs in Mexico.
