Shearman & Sterling’s regional managing partner for the Americas, head of the Latin America affinity group and a member of the firm’s Capital Markets-Americas practice group, Antonia Stolper ranks as one of the leading private practice lawyers in the US. Her experience in the Mexican market includes advising the joint book-running managers on a senior note offering by Grupo Cementos de Chihuahua; acting for the initial purchasers on a secondary equity offering by Cemex and for the initial purchasers on the $650m IPO of Vista Oil & Gas on the Mexican Stock Exchange; and lead underwriters Credit Suisse, Morgan Stanley and Citigroup instructed her on Elementia’s IPO. On the issuer side, Stolper has acted for Volaris on its concurrent IPOs on the New York and Mexican Stock Exchanges. More broadly, she has represented a range of foreign private issuers, underwriters, corporate and governmental entities on debt and equity transactions in Latin America and issuers in the region on their ongoing SEC reporting requirements, Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and corporate governance matters. Stolper also sits on the Board of the Council of the Americas (COA), and is a member of the Executive Committee of the Cyrus R. Vance Centre for International Justice, promoting pro bono work in Latin America by private-practice lawyers. Her other pro bono work includes advising the Climate Bonds Initiative and she can frequently be found chairing Practising Law Institute panels.
