Carlos Martinez is a partner and head of the Latin America practice group at Proskauer Rose. He has over 20 years of experience in Latin American cross-border transactions and has participated in numerous debt and equity securities offerings by Latin American issuers. In the mergers and acquisitions area, he has represented acquirers, investors and target companies. He also represents creditors and borrowers in a wide range of other financial transactions. His work in Mexico includes advising on the $1.2bn acquisition of Mexican bottler Pepsi-Gemex by The Pepsi Bottling Group, the largest bottler of Pepsico products in the world. He has also acted for a number of large Mexican clients on highly-complex, confidential matters. He has written articles on privatisation capital markets, free trade agreements and restructurings in Latin America, and lectured on the legal aspects of international finance.
