Regarded by clients as a ‘great transactional lawyer’ who has solid ‘knowledge of Latin American corporate regulations’, Thais Garcia was recently among 26 new partners elected at Clifford Chance. She is a partner in the firm’s corporate practice and a member of its Latin America Group. She specialises in in cross-border M&A, restructurings and joint ventures, with a particular focus on the Latin America and US markets and regularly represents corporates, private equity houses, pension funds, infrastructure funds and other investors in their investments in the region. Garcia has worked on a number of significant matters, including the establishment of a pan-Latin American renewable energy platform, Atlas Renewable Energy, and the acquisition of over 1,500 MW of solar PV assets from SunEdison. She is a member of the Colegio de Abogados de Madrid and of the Inter-American Affairs Committee of the New York City Bar Association.
