Active throughout the Latin America region in conjunction with Norton Rose Fulbright’s wider Latin American practice. Alexander’s work has included an ongoing transmission project in Chile, a gas distribution project in Brazil, and a power project in Colombia. The development of Norton Rose Fulbright’s office in Mexico is likely to increase his engagement in Mexico, where he has already assisted with the structuring of some of the first renewable-energy projects in the country to be financed under the recently-adopted auction regulations. Prior to that he was involved with the structuring of some of the first renewable energy projects to be financed under the self-supply regime. His recent matters include assisting Fotowatio Renewable Ventures secure the financing of the 342MW dc Potosí Solar Farm, near Zacatacas in San Luis Potosí – a matter closed early in 2018; representing the senior lenders to a 250MW wind farm developed by Cubico in Nuevo Leon; representing Envision Energy Jiangsu in connection with its equity investment in Eólica del Golfo 1 SAPI de CV, developer of a 70MW wind farm in the country; and representing the lenders in connection with a $100m cross-border financing to Compañia Eólica de Tamaulipas (CETSA), for a 54MW wind project to be located in the state. He also represented the senior lenders in connection with a $241m loan for the construction of a 148.5MW wind farm – also in Tamaulipas – which was named the 2015 Latin American wind deal of the year by leading infrastructure and project finance publication, IJGlobal.
