Native Spanish-speaker Ulises Pin’s practice is centred on telecoms matters in the broadest sense. He has over 20 years’ experience representing telecommunications carriers, technology companies and financial institutions on both regulatory matters and transactional activity in the sector, including on submarine cables, satellite-related matters and new technology. He also advises private equity firms and venture capital funds on investments in the telecommunications, media, and technology areas, and has represented clients before the Federal Communications Commission and government agencies around the world, particularly in Latin America and Mexico. His practice covers all sub-sectors of the TMT market, including wireline, wireless and international communications, Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), infrastructure projects (land and submarine networks), satellite services, and emerging technologies. He counsels on complex cross-border transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures, public offerings, joint ventures, and private and public equity investments; and also represents public and private companies in international corporate and finance transactions across industries, including telecommunications, technology, energy, retail and real estate. His experience stretches into the drafting and negotiation of telecoms and technology contracts on behalf of telecommunications operators, equipment manufacturers and large telecommunications users, and he has related niche-expertise pertaining to foreign investment, export controls, and embargo issues before the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS), the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the Department of Treasury, and the Departments of Commerce, State, Defence, Homeland Security and Justice.
