Of counsel Pedro Reyes is a highly regarded name in Paul Hastings’ market-leading Mexico and Latin America practice. The Latin America team has led the way in private sector capital markets offerings by Mexican issuers, advising both underwriters and issuers. Reyes, a fluent Spanish speaker, is one of the key next generation lawyers in the team and has played a key role on a series of headline, precedent setting and transformational transactions.

The team recently represented leading Mexican petrochemical company Alpek, S.A.B. de C.V., as borrower, in a $710m senior unsecured term loan facility with The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, as administrative agent, and The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, Citigroup Global Markets Inc, HSBC Mexico, S.A., Institución de Banca Múltiple, Grupo Financiero HSBC and JPMorgan Chase Bank as joint lead arrangers. Reyes was also involved in the firm’s representation of Mexican company GGI INV SPV, S.A.P.I. de C.V. as special purpose borrower in a $485m senior secured loan from a consortium of banks. In March 2018, he was part of the Paul Hastings team that advised Credit Suisse as global coordinator and Credit Suisse and Citigroup as initial purchasers on Mexico City Airport FIBRA E’s $1.64bn initial public offering on the Mexican Stock Exchange. The transaction was the largest IPO in Mexico since 2013 and is fundamental to the development of the new FIBRA E structure, a Mexican energy and infrastructure investment vehicle. In 2017, Reyes was part of the team that advised Morgan Stanley and JP Morgan as the global coordinators and initial purchasers on the $912m IPO by Becle, the parent company of Jose Cuervo, the international spirits company.
