Taisa Markus is a partner in the White & Case capital markets practice in New York. Her practice focuses on cross-border securities offerings, cross-border bank finance and M&A, restructurings and general securities law matters. She has significant experience representing both financial institutions and issuers particularly in the Latin American and European capital markets. She also has in-depth knowledge of Tier 1 and Tier 2 capital securities across jurisdictions.
Markus has an impressive track record leading on major transactions in Latin America, including recent representation of BBVA Securities, as arranger, in a multi-currency $300m loan facility to Latin American finance subsidiaries of a multinational entity. Work with Mexico-based entities has included representations of: Alpha Holding, a leading Mexican non-bank financial institution, in its inaugural international high yield bond offering; Grupo Kaltex in its $320m inaugural high yield bond offering; and the underwriters in the $200m offering of high yield bonds by a Mexican microfinance lender.
Markus participates extensively in professional development bodies and not-for-profit work. She is a member of the Dean’s Advisory Board at University of Illinois College of Law, a member of the Women in Law Empowerment Forum (WILEF) Board, co-chair of the Young Lawyers’ Committee, a member at the Committee of the Vance Center for International Justice Initiatives of the New York City Bar Association, the Committee on International Affairs of the New York City Bar Association and the New York City Bar Association.
