Attorney Joel M. Eliza joined Caribbean Financial Group (CFG) in February 2012. Currently serving as the general counsel, Joel is responsible for all legal and regulatory matters related to CFG’s international operations. Joel has experience in the public sector, having served as an assistant secretary of legal affairs in the Department of Treasury of Puerto Rico as well as the general counsel of the Public Buildings Authority. Joel previously practiced insurance litigation at Otero & Lopez law firm and holds a Juris Doctor from the Inter-American University of Puerto Rico School of Law. Joel also holds an LL.M. in International Law from the George Washington University in Washington, D.C. Joel is licensed to practice law in Puerto Rico’s federal and local courts, as well as in the state of Maryland.
