What are the most significant cases and transactions that your legal team has recently been involved in?
The most significant transactions are related to market entry in Colombia; under the Dando brand, the financing of an asset back revolving line with Ares (US lender); and the acquisition of a Colombian portfolio through the US Bankruptcy court.
Which recent political, economic or regulatory changes have impacted your work the most in the past year?
The presentation of a legislative bill at the national assembly in Panama that will have an effect on the automation of promissory notes for online lending, lobbying efforts in Aruba in connection with the imposition of a legal interest rate cap, and presentation of economic papers on Bonaire to stop the continuous decrease of an interest rate cap in effect since 2012.
Are there any causes, business or otherwise, you are passionate about?
I am passionate about the future of consumer lending in the Caribbean and Latin America in connection with online lending, about economic development in Puerto Rico and its current unexploited potential in the Latin American market.
