In your opinion, what are the qualities and skills needed to form a strong legal team?

A strong legal team thrives on diversity and deep passion for the business we serve. A successful in-house lawyer needs to know enough about a range of subject matters to be able to identify where we need to call in other internal or external subject matter expertise, together with the skill of being able to connect dots across a range of subject matters and draw upon deep familiarity with their business to generate unique solutions and contribute unique value. A strong legal team encourages communication and the sharing of experiences and knowledge amongst all of its members to support their individual success.

What is the biggest risk to your industry or organisation and how are you contributing to prepare your organisation for this?

The future is uncertain, as the pandemic, conflicts around the world, and economic challenges all converge to make the predictability of customers and markets increasingly difficult. My focus over the past 12 months has been in supporting my business partners to have ready access to the most current and actionable advice and legal resources that are possible. I have consistently engaged proactively, with training and direct project engagement, to support decision makers to be equipped to make the best decisions possible, in a timely manner and across a range of scenarios.
