Could you tell us a bit about your significant successes in your role?

At Samsung, every day is a new challenge, and I do not like to individualise the achievements, because each member of the legal team plays an important role and, together, we have managed to contribute a lot to our organisation. Examples of such achievements include the implementation of the electronic signature, standardisation of documents that facilitate negotiations, high-impact projects such as Trade In online, all with the intention of promoting an expeditious response to our internal and external clients and together adding more to the growth of the company.

In your opinion, what are the qualities and skills needed to form a strong legal team?

The skills that are crucial to a strong legal team include a hunger to be a better professional, to be better co-worker, to learn something new every day, and, of course, the most important thing is to know and manage soft skills as if they were the ten commandments. A lot of departments focus on getting a team of professionals with incredible hard skills, but if the team does not know how to use any of the soft skills, for example, teamwork, communication, creativity, and leadership, the chances of being a strong legal team are lowered.

What is the biggest risk to your industry organisation and how are you contributing to prepare your organisation for this?

The biggest risk for a technology company is to remain in a state of comfort and security for its triumphs. The technology industry is evolving every day.

Since the invention of the semiconductor and its miniaturisation, the industry has not stopped growing and will continue to grow as fast as it has in just these last 50 years. Currently we talk about smart cities, IoT and cryptocurrencies as something normal, where talking about these topics 50 years ago would sound like a fiction novel by Isaac Asímov.

For this reason, we as a legal department are always informing and bringing new ideas to our internal and external clients, as well as our suppliers, about new technologies such as smart contracts, electronic signatures and other activities that simplifies the day-to-day operations.
