Celia Alejandra Gallardo Medina
Legal counsel manager | Henkel Capital
Could you tell us a bit about your significant successes in your role?
Besides handling more than 450 agreements for Mexico, Cenam Region — Guatemala, Costa Rica, Honduras, Nicaragua, El Salvador, and the Andean Region —Colombia, Peru, and Venezuela — regarding laundry and home care products as well as consumer adhesives products, I advise my clients regarding the launch of products, promotional campaigns, and secure the business continuity accomplishing legal regulations imposed by authorities in the day-to-day basis. I participate in the Excom committee of Guatemala and the crisis management team of this region as well. Also, I am interested in digitalising processes for the legal area to give an agile and better respond to our clients. An example of these is the creation of content and design of e-learning for newcomers, incorporation of legal knowledge across the Latam region into a Chatbot called Lawrence, and now implementation of the digital signature to foster the transformation.
In your opinion, what are the qualities and skills needed to form a strong legal team?
Communication is the basis for success in all teams but creating a safe environment to speak up with new ideas without being judged and supporting our colleagues is essential. Anticipating legal trends and the business market is the best quality a legal team can have to guarantee success for our clients.
What is the biggest risk to your industry, and how are you contributing to prepare your organisation for this?
The most significant risk I see in the consumer industry is the rapid shift to virtual. I am innovating with digital enhancements that can help the legal area to reduce the load of work and give the best support for our clients with them by making more time to legal for analysis in complex content to anticipate future trends by gathering legal information about those topics.
