About

Cristina Iancu is currently holding the position of legal director within the Romanian National Gas Transmission Company Transgaz.

Born in 1985, she graduated with a BA in Law at the University of Bucharest and holds a Master’s degree in Business Law. She began her career in 2007 as a practising lawyer in the Bucharest BAR, providing legal consultancy in various areas of law for large private companies and public and local authorities implementing infrastructure projects.

She started working for Transgaz, the sole gas transmission system operator from Romania and one of the top TSOs in Europe, in 2014 as a consultant in the legal department, soon after being appointed as head of special projects Legal Unit, subsequently as legal director for one of the legal department branches and, from 2018, as Legal Director. She coordinates a team of 34 in providing legal advice and litigation representation on various legal subjects and domains, with an intense highlight on energy.

Until present, she was actively involved in work groups focusing on adjusting different project implementation procedures to the European legal framework, and she provided consultancy in various matters arising from the collaboration with the National Regulatory Authority of Romania.

She was appointed member of the ENTSO-G Board of Directors and General Assembly, on behalf of Transgaz, in June 2022 and has been involved in the decision-making process of the European gas transmission system operators since, where she has managed to successfully navigate through the highly complex recent geopolitical environment along with her peers.

From 2020 until 2021, she was appointed chairperson of the Vestmoldtransgaz Board, initially established as the second gas transmission system operator of Moldova, a position in which, among other relevant matters, she also supervised the regulatory affairs of the company. At present, she is a member of the Board. She has been actively involved in the recent taking over process of the gas transmission public service of Moldova by Vestomoldtransgaz, currently the sole Moldovan-licensed gas transmission system operator.
