Could you share an example of a time when you came up with an innovation that improved the way your legal team works and did not come at a huge cost?  

While working for a group of companies, I encountered multiple different legal teams, for each serving a different company. This situation resulted in significant cost overruns and duplications in legal support activities, as well as a lack of cohesive vision and team spirit.  

In response, I unified the teams in one cohesive team, creating a strong, innovative legal team with a complete understanding of the business in order to ensure the proper legal support for any business division. 

   

What are some of the key developments that have affected your business over the last year?  

Like everyone in the world, the war against Ukraine affected Romania and the business environment. However, for Phoenix activity in Romania, with the entire team efforts we succeeded to be present in the market with top quality pharmaceutical services and medicines for patients, that are always in need. 

   

How do you think the in-house legal role will evolve in the coming years?  

I believe that, in the near future, in-house lawyers will need to be increasingly prepared, dynamic and possess strong leadership skills. Developing a robust and powerful in-house legal team is essential for contributing to the business success of the company. Without wanting to diminish the role of law firms, I firmly believe that a strong in-house legal team plays a pivotal role in providing real-time, crucial information. This, in turn, enables law firms to maximise the success of significant and sensitive projects.  

   

Do you use any legal technology products and, if so, what areas of your work do you find it most useful for?  

We aim to expand our usage of legal technology to include contract templates in order to facilitate the role of operational employees, allowing them to secure the execution of standard contracts independently and swiftly with partners. Also, we have developed platforms in order to ensure compliance with whistle-blower legislation.
