How do you approach managing legal aspects during periods of instability or crises, and how does your legal strategy align with the broader business strategy to ensure the organisation’s resilience?
The legal department plays a crucial role in the day-to-day operations of a company by defining legal strategies that protect both the organisation and its employees, ensuring compliance with the law.
Its role becomes even more significant during times of instability, when the line between business and legality can be particularly thin. The key skill of an in-house legal professional is finding that balance and offering innovative legal solutions that support the continuity of the business. This is no easy task, which is why, in addition to professional expertise, personal qualities are equally important. Understanding the company’s business strategy, recognising its direction, and offering legal solutions with a commercial mindset are all essential. Moreover, the ability to work effectively under pressure is critical.
The answer to the question is simple: calmly.
What emerging technologies do you see as having the most significant impact on the legal profession in the near future, and how do you stay updated on these developments?
Of course, artificial intelligence is evolving at a rapid pace. It serves as an excellent brainstorming tool and can generate a first draft, which must then be completed by a legal professional. While AI is quick and cost-effective, it lacks emotional intelligence and does not fully grasp the complexities and nuances of the legal profession.
The legal field must evolve by integrating AI as a tool to enhance efficiency and accessibility. The role of AI in managing routine legal and administrative tasks is set to expand. It’s important to stay informed about the evolution of AI by attending conferences, exchanging insights with counterparts, and integrating the various solutions available in the market according to our specific needs.
