Managing legal aspects during periods of instability requires a proactive and adaptive mindset. My approach is centred on strategic risk management and ensuring that our legal frameworks can withstand external pressures. Since joining Tesla Group AS, I have worked closely with our business teams to ensure that our contracts, compliance measures, and corporate governance structures are resilient and aligned with both short-term operational needs and long-term growth objectives.

For example, as the renewable energy sector faces increasing regulatory scrutiny, particularly in terms of environmental standards and sustainability requirements, I have focused on ensuring our legal strategies not only protect the company but also enable it to navigate these evolving frameworks. By fostering strong relationships with external legal advisors and keeping abreast of regulatory changes, I ensure that our legal approach aligns with the company’s operational flexibility and sustainability goals. Ultimately, the legal function acts as a key enabler of business resilience, ensuring that risks are mitigated and opportunities for growth are fully supported.

What measures has your company taken to embed sustainability practices into its core business operations, and how does the role of the general counsel contribute to driving and ensuring sustainable practices within the company?

At Tesla Group, sustainability is a key driver of our business model as a leader in renewable energy projects. From the outset, sustainability has been at the heart of every major decision, from project development to supply chain management and regulatory compliance. Our commitment is not just to meeting environmental regulations, but to exceeding them in ways that position us as industry leaders in sustainable energy.

In my role as chief legal officer, I ensure that sustainability is embedded in all our legal processes. I oversee the development and implementation of legal frameworks that support green projects in compliance with EU sustainability goals, such as the European Green Deal. This includes advising on contracts that prioritise sustainable practices with partners and suppliers, as well as ensuring that our governance structures reflect the highest standards of environmental responsibility.

Moreover, I we are aiming for sustainable financing initiatives, working on integrating green bonds and other eco-friendly financing solutions that not only meet the company’s capital needs but also align with its commitment to long-term environmental goals. Through collaboration with the executive team, I ensure that Tesla Group’s legal and sustainability strategies are fully integrated, enabling us to pursue ambitious projects while maintaining our commitment to sustainable growth.

What emerging technologies do you see as having the most significant impact on the legal profession in the near future, and how do you stay updated on these developments?

I see artificial intelligence, blockchain, and data analytics as key technologies that will significantly impact the legal profession in the near future. AI is already transforming how legal departments manage contract reviews, compliance checks, and due diligence. Blockchain technology holds great promise for smart contracts and secure transactions, which will have profound implications for industries like energy and intellectual property.

To stay updated on these developments, I actively engage in legal tech forums and attend industry conferences focused on innovation in the legal sector. I also encourage my team to adopt cutting-edge tools, such as AI-based solutions for document review, to ensure our operations are both efficient and future-proof. As legal technology continues to evolve, staying informed and adaptable is key to maintaining a competitive advantage and delivering legal services that align with the broader business strategy.
