How do you approach managing legal aspects during periods of instability or crises, and how does your legal strategy align with the broader business strategy to ensure the organisation’s resilience?  

We aim to always provide high-quality value-adding relevant legal services that meet and exceed the expectations of business where business is enabled to make rapid and risk- informed decisions and conclude deals. We manage legal risk in the bank while focusing on the bank’s business commitments through the following Strategic Value, among other, Ongoing disruptive market activities, Driving market activities, Driving efficient execution, Delivering market leading client solutions through staff, digital and data.

What are the main cases or transactions you have been involved in recently?  

I am involved, among other day to day advisory services, in major litigation that could potentially have reputational risk impact on the bank.

 How do you manage and motivate your legal team to ensure high performance and professional growth?  

I am known for my collaboratively structured approach and bringing all voices into the room; my ability to turn around teams and transform them into high-performance units, optimizing resource allocation and ensuring the right people are doing the right level of work and enhancing profitability; and translating complex legal terms into clear, actionable language that stakeholders at all levels can understand and act upon. This not only enhances negotiations and ensures compliance, but also drives meaningful conversations that lead to informed decisions 

I have the privilege of leading a highly experienced and savvy legal team in providing sound commercial advice and counsel across the organisation, ensuring Nedbank remains at the forefront of legal excellence and business integrity, whilst also building a culture of corporate citizenship. 

I am deeply passionate about and committed to mentoring and guiding emerging legal minds and promoting diversity within the legal field. I play an active role in initiatives aimed at increasing the representation of black women in legal roles, particularly in banking, which feeds into broader efforts to diversify the bench at a commercial level.
