Focus on… My journey so far

As Group General Counsel of ONE Championship, my role is – at heart – to assist and facilitate business growth and expansion as we continue to extend our global footprint beyond Asia and more deeply into the Americas and EMEA, and also continue to expand our business verticals beyond our core Martial Arts and Esports offerings into general content and other initiatives.

On a day-to-day basis I am fortunate enough to get to work with great media partners, such as Amazon Prime, with whom we recently inked a multi-year US martial arts broadcasting deal; Turner Broadcasting, MGM and Netflix (where we recently streamed our first season of The Apprentice: ONE Championship Edition); great regional and global brand-name sponsors, such as FoodPanda, JBL, TUMI, and HSBC to name a few; as well as with world renowned martial arts athletes and esports teams such as Demetrious Johnson, Eddie Alvarez, Vitor Belfort and Team Secret. I have also found myself working with a great set of shareholders and investors – including the likes of Sequoia Capital, Guggenheim, QIA and GIC – on the Company’s recent rounds of private capital raising and day-to-day shareholder and restructuring matters.

My daily responsibilities have me overseeing all legal, regulatory and compliance aspects of the ONE Championship, ONE Esports and ONE Studios businesses – including in relation to in-country event activation, sponsorships and partnerships, broadcast and media rights, as well as e-commerce, digital product rollouts and joint venture and shareholder matters. Key areas that I oversee include corporate structuring and governance, GR and regulatory compliance, intellectual property protection, data privacy and employment.

Immediately prior to joining ONE, I headed up the corporate legal function of Dentsu for the Asia Pacific region. Before that I spent time at Yahoo as well as in private practice at Cravath in both New York and London and at Skadden in Hong Kong.
