General counsel (Singapore, Malaysia & Brunei) | Coca-Cola Beverages Singapore, Malaysia & Brunei
What are the most significant cases or transactions that you have been involved in over the past year?
The team consists of Nurul Atiqah Zaini (Senior Legal Counsel – Supply Chain & Enabling), Debi Phuah (Senior Legal Counsel – Singapore; & Malaysia Key Accounts), Jessie Yong (Legal Counsel – General Trade & Distributors), Nirthanjali Sapai (Paralegal) and Nor Azlind Mohd Kamal (Team Admin). Over the past year, the company has been actively working on a broad range of matters and the each member of the team has been heavily involved in stakeholder initiatives ranging from competition law, supply chain automation, eB2B and digital payment solution, and distributor management system, cyber-incidents, revamping our PDPA and cybersecurity initiatives, and as a regional Talent Hub, also welcoming short-term assignments from other Coca-Cola bottlers.
Apart from legal matters, has the team worked on other company initiatives you would like to highlight?
The team is supportive of all the CSR activities conducted by the company, to date this year, the team has participated in over 6 CSR events. At the end of the day, our mission is to refresh the world, so being able to help or participate locally fills us with pride.
How do you motivate and manage the other members of your legal team?
Our team motto is “Enabling+Governance” – having a simple but clear motto helps guide the team to our North Star. These are 2 sides of the same coin; and are not the opposite ends of the extreme. Secondly, establishing the team as a regional Talent Hub builds confidence in the team members. Also, constant dialogue on individual development plans on a frequent basis helps the team members into becoming their best selves.
