Aboitiz Power Corporation (APC) is a holding company with investments in power generation and distribution companies in the Philippines. Supporting its projects across the country, APC’S legal team is responsible for a number of tasks comprising of reporting and assessing corporate governance and legal risk management practices, as well as thorough assessments of legal compliance track records. The team are also in charge of identifying and mitigating legal risks, reviewing litigation management procedures, tax protocols, current litigation issues and other related matters. Involved in all business transactions, it also oversees the overall legal expenditure of the business units and initiate the formal adoption of the company’s code of conduct, clarifying responsibilities and informing other stakeholders on the conduct expected from company personnel. Most recently the team has been involved in the takeover of Cadiz Solar Power Project, a 59-megawatt peak solar photovoltaic power generation project set to be one of the largest solar power projects in the Philippines to date. Amongst some its most exciting and pioneering projects, in 2014 the team assisted in the development of solar energy projects, a venture with SunEdison, with plans to explore, develop and construct up to 300 megawatts of power generating capacity in the Philippines over the next three years.
