US multinational software corporation Autodesk is a leader in 3D design, engineering and entertainment software for a range of industries. Through its regional base in Singapore, the company has continued to make strides into ASEAN markets with the assistance of its much-lauded legal team. Describing the requirements of handling the legal affairs for the company’s operations in the region, one nominator said that ‘as a team, knowledge is required across all ASEAN countries in a multitude of disciplines, with a particular emphasis on intellectual property, contract law, privacy, consumer and advertising law, employment law and sales and distribution laws’. The nominator goes on to describe the department’s key members: ‘Autodesk’s ASEAN region legal team consists of Alan Pineda, a UK-qualified lawyer, who has worked extensively across all countries in the ASEAN region. The team has the benefit of oversight by well-known technology lawyer Rembert Meyer-Rochow, who leads Autodesk’s APAC legal team, and is backed up with administrative and paralegal support by Xana Tan, who has been with Autodesk for more than 20 years’. With the assistance of its experienced legal team, Autodesk is set to further expand and develop its business the region.
