Firmenich’s international perfumery operation accounts for over 2,900 patents and provides employment for approximately 7,000 employees around the world, two factors that alone provide a wealth of challenges for its legal team. Former Ashurst lawyer and senior commercial counsel for Motorola Greg Chew runs the company’s legal operations in Singapore as part of the larger Asia Pacific operation. He and his team prize versatility and experience in their ranks and, given that the company is pursuing a strategy of expansion within Singapore, this is an extremely beneficial state of affairs for the company. An example of the team’s work bearing fruit for the company was the September 2017 opening of a brand new, multi-million dollar global perfumery and creative centre at the prestigious Singapore Science Park.
