The Dutch-headquartered Louis Dreyfus Company is a global commodity trader that is involved in a multitude of industry sectors, and possesses a dynamic operation in Asia – a region it considers a key destination market and a strategic origination point for all of its major Group commodity flows. Heading a 13-strong legal team in the region is chief legal officer for Asia, Massimiliano Talli. Six members of the team are based in Singapore including HT Goh who is mainly in charge of M&A, Sophie Drake who has responsibility for arbitration and shipping, Devottam Sengupta who leads structured and general financing and Celine Woon who mainly manages corporate and commercial matters. Outside of Singapore, Sofia Manalu and Lenny Permata are based in Indonesia, with the remaining members located in either China or India. A significant project the team recently worked on and gained recognition for was the sale of its fertiliser business, Macrofertil Australia, to Canada’s Agrium in December 2017. This was as part of the company’s restructuring in response to tough conditions in the agricultural market.
