Pepsi-Cola Products Philippines Inc. (PCPPI) is the exclusive manufacturer of PepsiCo beverages and snacks in the Philippines. Comprised of five lawyers and two non-lawyers, the company’s Legal Government and Corporate Affairs (LCGA) team is headed by vice president for legal, government and corporate affairs and chief compliance officer Lope R. Manuel Jr. The other lawyers who comprise this highly regarded team are Brandon Carlos Domingo (senior manager for legal and government affairs), Ramil Sungcad (senior manager legal services and policy formulation), Grethel Barredo (legal and labor relations manager) and Robee Marie Ilagan (legal and ethics compliance manager). ‘Institutionalised two years ago, our team is placed at the centre of the company’s business to better enable the company achieve its targets’, says Manuel. The team has been recognised for being proactive with new government regulations on sugar contracts and high-fructose corn syrup importation as well as the implementation of the recently-promulgated excise tax law on sugar-sweetened beverages. They are also commended for institutionalising a new and highly successful Ethics Committee to exercise administrative jurisdiction over ethics cases involving employees and for taking great strides in labour management and industrial relations by overseeing four collective bargaining agreements in the last two years.
