Singapore Airlines
Singapore Airlines, the city-state’s flag carrier, ranks among the world’s largest air carriers and is ranked 10th in the world for international passengers carried. In 2017, the legal team headed by seasoned in-house counsel Gerald Koo, received extensive praise for its execution of the airline’s deal to purchase 39 Boeing aircrafts for US$13.8bn. Constituting the largest aircraft buy by the airline in over four years, the deal marks a key chapter in its fleet expansion and renewal strategy. With the deal securing thousands of US jobs at Boeing manufacturing plants, it was formally announced at the White House in Washington D.C. with US President Donald Trump and Prime Minister of Singapore Lee Hsien Loong witnessing the signing ceremony. Besides flawlessly facilitating this transaction, the team has been commended for its expertise in intellectual property, due diligence and competition law, as well as its ability to promptly execute commercial contracts.
