Can you sum up the team culture or ethos, and give us a breakdown of what makes your legal team function so well?

The Agoda legal team is a diverse international group of talented individuals who are committed to delivering the best outcomes for the business as true enablers while ensuring responsible risk management. The department is organised around a series of KPIs to deliver outcomes aligned with the overall strategy and tactical challenges. The overall department is structured into different teams focusing on specific areas of law, as well as regions.

We currently have the following teams within Agoda Legal, with all leaders reporting directly to the general counsel, Tom Thomas; the data team, led by Brendan Pat focuses on data privacy in the wide sense, cybersecurity and increasingly, AI. The commercial, corporate, regulatory and disputes team led by Stewart Raeside deals with contracts, corporate (including housekeeping), competition law and disputes; compliance and ethics, including third party risk management and financial crime is managed by Yim Woodman

Ritika Agarwal oversees the labour law division; travel and IPR under Peter McBride; and the Product and fintech division is managed Eric Kriesels.

There are also two regional teams; Americas, led by Paulette Fox and Greater China, led by Sandra Lu. Each team is specialised, integrated with the other business partners and coordinates internally to avoid silos.
