Focus on…Our Legal Team 

Our team is comprised of 18 members spread out across the three countries where EdgePoint Group operates – Indonesia, Philippines and Malaysia – with our group holding company based in Singapore. The principal counsel and head of legal is in the corporate centre in Malaysia, concurrently leading matters concerning the group, as well as operations in Malaysia, while providing support and guidance to the other countries.

Indonesia and the Philippines operations each have their respective legal teams, led by their respective head of legal, managing local legal affairs, implementing projects cascaded by the group, transactions, and cooperating on initiatives that may be led by either of the countries. Specifically for Indonesia, there is the added dimension of managing corporate secretarial matters and governance related matters for a public listed company and compliance with the Financial Services Authority and Indonesian Stock Exchange.

What makes the EdgePoint’s legal team work well is the culture of respect that we have fostered from the beginning. Coming from diverse cultures, it is expected that there will be differences in perspectives, communication styles, approach to issues, and over-all work style. By practicing respect, however, we turn this diversity into a strength. Concretely, this means being open to other people’s ideas, practicing transparency, and even by being more conscious and thoughtful of one another. With respect in a team setting, challenges are reduced, and any potential conflicts are avoided. There is greater opportunity for creative solutions, increased collaboration, and productivity. Further, we also attribute our performance from the robust group structural framework which allows for seamless collaboration and empower local teams to excel.

Through clear guidance and understanding, there is effective communication channels and encourages local team to advise and execute with their local knowledge and expertise. This strikes a delicate balance between the group and local teams to ensure harmonious workflow and elevated outcomes.
