What are the most significant cases or transactions that your legal team has recently been involved in?
Regarding corporate, our team has advised on the carve out of the existing energy business in Indonesia into a newly formed joint venture, PT Siemens Energy Indonesia.
Concerning projects, we advise on several key wind turbine contracts, for the supply, installation and service of wind turbine generators (WTG) in South Korea, including Hoenggye (5 WTGs) and Yangyang Suri (18 WTGs) which have a combined installed capacity of 115 megawatt (MW). In addition, the Kimcheon project was concluded, which is the first 5X (the latest type of WTG) Project in the Asia Pacific region. This project will be comprised of 15 WTGs and have an installed capacity of 99 MW.
Negotiation of contract to supply and install the synchronous condensers for the Clarke Creek wind, solar and battery power generation project. The project is now under construction and is one of the biggest grids connected renewable energy projects underway in Australia. Our team, in Australia, negotiated the early works arrangement and the final contract on behalf of Siemens Energy and provides ongoing legal support during project implementation.
Lastly, we have provided advice on the H-Class (largest gas turbine type) supply for Eumseong combined cycle power plant (CCPP) in Korea. The CCPP will be built in place of a previously planned 1,000 MW coal-fired power plant. The switch to a modern high-efficiency gas-fired power plant will reduce CO2 emissions by up to 3.7 million tons per year compared to a similar coal power plant.
