How do you approach managing legal aspects during periods of instability or crises, and how does your legal strategy align with the broader business strategy to ensure the organisation’s resilience?

It is essential to conduct a thorough assessment to identify potential legal risks and develop contingency plans that allow the organisation to respond quickly. Staying up to date with legislative changes, as well as adjusting internal policies to comply with new regulations and minimise the risk of sanctions, is key for any organisation, especially in times of instability.

Clear and transparent communication with all interested parties, including employees, clients and regulators, in addition to the review and renegotiation of contracts and agreements, is essential to protect the interests of the organisation in the event of possible changes and strengthen the internal response capacity.

What are the main cases or transactions that you have been involved in recently?

Internal management, from a legal point of view, of the crisis caused by the recent DANA in close collaboration with the Insurance Compensation Consortium and UNESPA. Coordination of the activation of our emergency protocols to mitigate the economic and social impact of the catastrophe, establishing efficient mechanisms to ensure rapid assistance to those affected.

Coordination of different countries, with their regulations, for the management of various international insurance programs, guaranteeing the harmonisation of various regulations and practices to ensure that the coverage and services offered are consistent and comply with the legal requirements of each jurisdiction.

Participation, on behalf of my organisation, in a Working Group at UNESPA on the “value for money” concept in insurance, whose objective was to analyse and highlight all those elements that in insurance products generate value for the client and must be taken into account in the evaluation of the quality-price relationship to transfer it to the European regulator EIOPA.

How have you integrated technology into your legal processes, and what impact has this had on efficiency and compliance?

Artificial intelligence, the technology par excellence in recent times, is increasingly becoming an essential tool in our daily work, improving our efficiency and optimising our processes. Thanks to the support you provide us, the legal team can focus on tasks that provide greater added value.

Likewise, the use of technology as a strategic ally for document management (contracts, deeds, etc.), the search for regulations, the automation of reporting processes and the rigorous translation of legal documentation, allows us to be more agile and provide a faster response to business needs, which in turn increases the competitiveness of the organisation in the sector.
