Currently, Julia serves as Secretary of the Board and Legal, Risk, and Compliance Director at Grupo Transfesa Logistics, a subsidiary of Deutsche Bahn and Renfe. Based in Europe (Spain, France, UK, Germany, Portugal), she leads the corporate legal strategy, risk prevention, and M&A processes. Julia has played a significant role in driving the company’s transformation from a traditional rail sector company to a comprehensive logistics provider. She has implemented new corporate governance models, simplified procedures, and has been a driving force behind changes in the rail sector’s regulatory framework. During the COVID-19 crisis, she co-led decision-making processes and led regulatory affairs with public administrations. Additionally, she has led joint ventures and strategic alliances, focusing on efficiency and transaction-based approaches.
Before joining Transfesa, Julia held the position of Legal Director at Capgemini Iberia & LATAM for over a decade, where she provided legal support across Spain, Portugal, and Latin America in the IT sector. She was responsible for managing a wide range of legal challenges, including policy implementation, risk mitigation, and facilitating business expansion in Latin America. Julia played a key role in fostering a cultural shift toward more efficient decision-making processes, emphasizing the creation of contractual templates and clear guidelines to streamline operations. She also led the company’s data privacy and compliance efforts and was a member of the Compliance and Gender Equality Committees. Julia is proud of her role in transforming the company’s legal culture to prioritize transactions over litigation.
Earlier in her career, Julia worked as Legal Director at Grupo Lar, a real estate company, where she was responsible for legal affairs across Iberia and Latin America. During the Spanish real estate boom, Julia led legal teams through high-stakes transactions, land acquisitions, urban developments, and financing operations. She streamlined internal processes, significantly reduced legal costs, and promoted a transactional approach to legal matters. Julia also contributed to the development of the company’s “Handbook Project,” which standardized legal procedures and templates across business operations.
Julia’s legal career began as an Associate Lawyer at EM Abogados, a law firm in Spain, where she gained valuable experience in real estate, IT, and logistics litigation. She represented clients in complex cases before the Spanish Supreme Court and Constitutional Court.
Throughout her career, Julia has consistently demonstrated a strong ability to adapt to diverse sectors and changing business environments. Her leadership in corporate governance, risk management, and legal strategy has made her a trusted advisor in the organizations she’s served, creating long-term value while mitigating legal and reputational risks.
