Career Biography
Llanos brings over 20 years of international professional experience having led transactions in multiple countries across different regions. With expertise in M&A, commercial law, corporate law, civil law, competition law, data protection and IT among others, she is responsible for providing legal advice across the business, with strategic and operational guidance, aiding the different group companies in all legal aspects. She has also been responsible for developing astara´s corporate compliance framework and building a strong corporate culture that is aligned with the company’s values around compliance and integrity. She is a Legal, compliance and cybersecurity expert. Member of the Executive Board; Chairperson of the Compliance Committee; Member of the Data Protection Committee and Member of the Cybersecurity Committee”
Achievements:
The Legal Department of Astara Mobility S.A. is led since 2019 by Llanos Manzanares Galeán who is also Data Protection Officer since 2018, member of the Management Committee since 2019, member of the Cybersecurity Committee since 2023 and member of the Internal Audit Committee since 2023. In addition, Manzanares is secretary to the board of directors of 5 companies of the Group and vice-secretary of 9 companies, reporting directly to the CEO of the Company, Jorge Navea.
Llanos Manzanares as Chief Legal Officer has been responsible for providing legal advice throughout the business that is distributed between Europe, Latin America and The Philippines, with strategic and operational guidance, advising the different companies of the group in the 19 countries where it is present. Her leadership skills, relational skills, negotiating skills and legal sense have allowed Manzanares to lead the legal team with the implementation of key legal processes related to legal drafting, negotiations and commercial resolution agreements, as well as the implementation of initiatives and processes to establish standards and reinforce a culture of integrity, quality, ethical behaviour and accountability throughout the company.
Thanks to her extensive experience in advising mergers and acquisitions processes on the more than 60 transactions made by the company over the last 5 years in different regions such as Europe, Latam and Asia, Llanos Manzanares has led the more than ten national and international operations carried out by the company in 2023 with a total value of about 30 million that contribute more than €130m of extra income to the Group. He has also led the digital transformation of the Legal Department, accompanying the business in its digitisation, with adoption of tools and technologies that have optimised the services provided and made processes more efficient. Manzanares has launched initiatives such as the contracting of the tool Elzacloud for the management of more than 200 registered brands of the company, the implementation of digital signature in the 19 countries where it operates, turning consulting into paperless, using artificial intelligence tools for some of the department’s contracts such as confidentiality or service agreements, using the Diligent application for corporate and corporate management of more than 100 companies that Astara has, making it easier to manage cross-cutting information within the 103 companies.
In addition, and over the last year, the executive has led the presentation of “The Spot”, its compliance program through an interactive presentation with podcast included and having a personalised regulatory radar to attend in time and form the latest legislative developments that could affect the sector of the company. During 2023 and 2024, the executive has consolidated the compliance department at international level by homogenising all essential regulatory compliance policies to the 103 companies that the Group has in 19 countries, carrying out revolutionary initiatives in the sector with the aim of strengthening Astara’s values and principles among more than 3,100 employees, its shareholders and other stakeholders, giving training to the board of directors as well as to the employees with innovative initiatives such as video shorts made by the employees to reinforce the compliance culture through entertaining and enjoyable media.
Since 2022, when Llanos Manzanares took over responsibility of the global cybersecurity area in the company, this discipline has become even more important as a core part of the company’s digital transformation business, giving visibility to this area, reporting directly to the Group’s CEO and consolidating the separation of functions in accordance with best corporate governance practices.
Llanos Manzanares has an outstanding leadership ability by combining a high negotiating profile due to her experience advising sophisticated M&A processes, very advanced technical knowledge of Corporate Governance by bringing together the figures of Compliance Officer and Data Protection Officer of the Group and fundamental digital skills in the digital transformation of the mobility sector. From the headquarters of Astara in Madrid, she leads a multidisciplinary team of 22 lawyers of 11 different nationalities, located in the 19 countries where the company has a presence, with different regulations and regulations as disparate as that of The Philippines, Chile, Peru, Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia, Switzerland, Austria, Belgium, Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Luxembourg, Portugal, Finland, Sweden and Spain.
