Rebeca Brandys
General counsel | Diamond Foundry
Rebeca Brandys has more than two decades of global, broad-ranging transactional and corporate governance experience, including general counsel and legal director roles in public and private technology companies and in private practice in leading law firms. A licensed attorney in Spain, Italy and New York, she specializes in corporate and commercial law and works across multiple jurisdictions. She is originally from (and currently based in) Madrid, Spain.
Ms. Brandys is currently Head of Legal at Diamond Foundry, a San Francisco, California producer of sustainable, lab-grown diamonds for use in technology, including chips and semi-conductors, overseeing complex legal matters as necessary, including compliance, litigation and dispute resolution, employment, commercial, corporate and intellectual property, at a global level. She also acts as Corporate Secretary to the Board and advises on global expansion, including on the construction of the company´s first European manufacturing plant in Trujillo, Spain.
Prior to Diamond Foundry, she was General Counsel and Corporate Secretary at Satellogic, an earth observation satellite startup. At Satellogic, she led the company through various rounds of financing and the successful completion of a SPAC process resulting in the company´s public listing on the NASDAQ exchange. She also advised the company on its corporate development and acquisition efforts globally.
Prior to Satellogic, she was lead counsel for the Middle East, Africa and Southern Europe with CommScope, a US Fortune 500 telecoms infrastructure provider. Previously, she was General Counsel of Oracle Team USA, the US sailing team competing in the America’s Cup, where she managed the legal function for the team globally during two editions of the America´s Cup, based in San Francisco, California and Valencia, Spain, with a particular focus on the negotiation of the host city agreements with local authorities and sponsorship agreements in sports.
Ms. Brandys was an associate attorney in the corporate and finance law department with Bonelli Erede Pappalardo in Rome, Italy and in the corporate and litigation department with Stephenson Harwood in Madrid, Spain, where she started her career.
Ms. Brandys received her law degree from the Complutense University of Madrid, including a French law diploma from the Law School of Aix-Marseille. She holds an LL.M. in American Law from Boston University School of Law. She also completed a Master of Research in European Union Law and Ph.D. program at the European University Institute in Florence on data protection law. She speaks Spanish, English, Italian and French.
Ms. Brandys is a fellow of the Fundación La Caixa Fellowship program. Her publications include “Cases and Materials in European Union and Member States’ Law.” with Jacques Ziller and Giuliano Amato. She is registered to practice law in Madrid (Spain), Rome (Italy) and New York (USA).
