What are the most significant cases and transactions in the LATAM region that you or your legal team has recently been involved in?

We have been involved in the merger of companies in Argentina through joint ventures. Also, we have acquired and financed three fishing vessels, approximately €9m each, and have been involved in sale and purchase and consultancy agreements. We have also hired management and dealt with the increase of capital in kind or cash. Regarding financing, we also acquired public bonds.

The unusual business environment created by the pandemic has been swiftly followed by the Ukraine crisis, attendant supply chain costs rising and inflation. Are you now putting more emphasis on preparing for the unforeseen and, if so, what does this entail?

Of course, new procedures are now in place and amendments in applicable laws have led to several changes.

What are your organisations plans in the Latam region over the next 12 months and how will your legal expertise help to achieve these plans?

Material changes are affecting our Latam countries: joint ventures, new hirings, new procedures and structures for reduction of administrative costs. We will be studying several potential acquisition transactions.
