Catherine Schmid is an expert in-house counsel adept in financial legal matters pertaining to wealth management, financial planning, and all kinds of international banking regulations. Currently head of legal Western Europe wealth and investment, Schmid has been with Barclays since 2010 having previously held senior legal roles at UBS, ING, Julius Bär, and HSBC. A stalwart of the Geneva financial legal market Schmid is responsible for the legal operations of wealth management and investment division across Western Europe. Barclays wealth management provides its clients with financial, retirement planning, insurance, tax and succession planning advice through its services across its corporate network. From this comes a variety of potential liabilities, compliance matters and general legal oversight. Schmid’s expertise is invaluable, demonstrated by her nearly 10 years in the role.
