Christian Müller joined Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts as legal counsel in 2015 and was promoted to general counsel of Mövenpick Holding in 2017 where he is responsible for all legal and IP matters within the Mövenpick Group. His primary responsibilities include M&A transactions, licensing activities, company law, data protection, management of key partners, litigations, and supervisions of the IP function. Müller led the sale of Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts for a cash amount of CHF560m to Accor and has gone on to negotiate international management and lease agreements for hotels across various jurisdictions. He has also gone on to develop a strong and effective legal department for Mövenpick, driving the in-house business forward as a key contributor of legal advice: ‘There was a change from a reactive to proactive approach, which raised visibility and improved the brand profile of the legal team, with the goal of establishing the legal team as a sparring partner for the executive team and the board’, says Müller. Müller is known for offering brilliant technical solutions to complex issues, for example the roll-out of a digital contract management system for all business units.
