With over 10 years of experience in the shipping and energy industries Christophe Robert brings his legal skill and industry knowledge to his role as senior legal manager at Oryx Energies having previously held senior in-house legal roles at Eferton, Lukoil, and Cotecna Inspection. Particularly adept at corporate M&A, deal making and the strategic development of legal departments, Robert has excelled in these areas. During his time at Eferton Group he developed his M&A skills through the Group’s heavy mergers activity, and led on trading activities and legal issues on a daily basis at Lukoil. Robert became a member of the Oryx Energies Management Committee, playing a strategic role in the organisation. When Robert joined, the legal department and external lawyers were not centralised – legal work was carried out by several departments. He centralised all legal work, hired key people, and split the work depending on regions and subjects. He now leads a small multi-disciplinary team, five in Geneva including himself, and three in Africa, but in charge of a broad range of subjects, including legal, litigation, M&A, corporate, compliance and governance, insurance and contracts for the Group. Recently Robert and his team have implemented the development of retail stations network (adding around 100 stations) through equity and assets deals; including the acquisition of Atlas Energy in The Gambia, with 28 service stations and other facilities.
