Ignacio Martinez de Lecea has worked in various in-house legal roles at a number of renowned multinational companies throughout his career, namely Credit Suisse, Swiss International Air Lines and Deloitte. His most current role sees him serve as the vice president, associate general counsel for the EMEA area for Baxter International, where he reports to both the senior vice president EMEA and senior vice president and general counsel in the US. He joined American health care company, Baxter in October 2006 as senior counsel emerging markets ECEMEA, overseeing Eastern Central Europe, the Middle East and Africa, including also Turkey, Greece and Israel and ad-interim responsibility for Spain and Portugal in 2011. In January 2012 he went on to assume the position of vice president, assistant general counsel Latin America and Canada, amongst his many tasks, he was actively involved in strategic growth initiatives through public-private partnerships and capturing new market penetration opportunities. In May 2015 he returned to Switzerland to serve as vice president assistant general counsel emerging markets EMEA for Baxter, as part of the senior management team, working on joint ventures, contract manufacturing arrangements and manufacturing technology licenses. During this time he was involved in the spin-off process of Baxter’s bioscience division in EMEA, managing tender assignment process and public procurement related issues globally during the split. In June 2018 he took on the current role of vice president associate general counsel EMEA, where he continues to assist in the development and implementation of new business models across a number of jurisdictions.
