Maria Leistner is a banking lawyer, experienced in international banking, structured finance transactions, emerging markets, private banking, and corporate governance to name a few. She is currently the group managing director and general counsel for global wealth management at UBS. In this role she serves as a member of the management executive committee, risk committee, operation risk committee, as well as the general counsel executive committee. Between January 2018 and September 2018, she additionally became the general counsel for UBS Investment Bank (IB) on an interim basis and member of the IB executive and risk committee. Prior to this, between May 2016 and September 2018, she was also general counsel for the EMEA region. Before joining UBS, she worked at Credit Suisse for twelve years, initially joining in the capacity of managing director, general counsel EMEA, and in November 2015 assumed the position of managing director, general counsel for international wealth management.
