Named “Most Innovative European In-House Lawyer 2015” by the Financial Times, Matthew Owens serves as the global head legal – strategic partnerships and digital medicine for Novartis. He joined the Swiss multinational pharmaceutical company in 2010 as senior legal counsel and in 2011 assumed position as head legal – GBS and strategy. In 2014 he assumed his current position and has since assisted on legal matters involving biotechnology matters and technology transfers, with a focus on facilitating legal operations through innovation. Prior to joining Novartis he served as senior counsel at Solvay Pharmaceuticals, before this he worked as corporate counsel at Mettler-Toledo, multinational manufacturer of scales and analytical instruments.
