How do you approach managing legal aspects during periods of instability or crises, and how does your legal strategy align with the broader business strategy to ensure the organisation’s resilience?

While change has always been part of the world, business and life, the speed of change has increased dramatically during the last decade. With the arrival of new technologies, this will only increase further. It is every leader´s responsibility to prepare its business and people for this inevitable change – which also applies to legal departments.

AI will soon have a profound impact on our work, and we need to have the right and open mindset across the teams to adjust and use this change. This means we need a healthy mix between experts and people able to take on topics that are totally new.

What emerging technologies do you see as having the most significant impact on the legal profession in the near future, and how do you stay updated on these developments?

I expect that relatively simple drafting exercises, minute taking, and others, can soon be performed by AI. Once AI is used broadly, it will improve dramatically. However, experts will still need to verify what AI produces. This will change how we train people, use law firms, and assess risk, among others.

How do you prioritise diversity and inclusion within your legal department, and what initiatives have you implemented to foster a more inclusive and equitable work environment?

Diversity and inclusion should be a no brainer in today´s world. It is not only the right thing to do, but also from a business perspective, opens up large talent pools that you might otherwise miss. It also brings diversity in thinking, perspective, and ideas which you need in a fast-changing world.

Yet, there are still material geographical and cultural differences which we need to work on by making it a permanent topic at every level of an organisation.
