Cargill International
American global trading corporation Cargill, the world’s largest independent oil and agricultural trader, has been an established presence in Switzerland since 1965. Deputy general counsel for the entire company and general counsel for Cargill in the EMEA regions, Neal Sawatzke, leads the legal team in the region in addition to Cargill’s Global M&A Legal Practice Group. The activities of Cargill’s Swiss business include trade and structured finance, trading in petroleum, grain and oilseed, ocean transportation and logistics, animal nutrition production and distribution and risk management. Depressed prices in both the energy and agriculture sectors in recent times has led the legal team at Cargill to align closely with business to cushion the effect of market conditions by exploring new opportunities to generate revenue.
