The Carlsberg legal team consists of two lawyers and one paralegal who are faced with complex global matters with internal and external stakeholders and tasked with sustaining the compliance agenda in times of financial challenge for the Danish brewery group. The Swiss legal team, led by Troels Libak Stollberg as senior legal director, has supported Carlsberg on several global raw material and packaging tenders as well as strategic capital expenditure agreements, each in the range of €500m to €3bn, and the facilitation of a major joint venture agreement for craft and microbreweries. In the last two years the team has made important changes by creating “The Snake”, a one page contracting compliance check list that is currently being used across the business. Furthermore the team has dealt with trade sanctions and the Russian rouble losing value, which directly impacts their business. The Carlsberg legal team calculate their value to the business by avoiding claims and the significant reduction of external costs by using group internal expertise instead of external consultants.
