About

The support of the litigation team at UBS has been described as a key element in bringing the bank to where it is today, ‘being seen by peers as one of the most rare and special integrations between a legal litigation function and a business market one’. The litigation and investigations team led by Anne Wildhaber, excel at providing invaluable support to market management and manages to combine unequalled legal knowledge with astute communication and politically sensitive advice. The team has been praised for its constant efficient and pro-active support in an extremely sensitive environment and have been described as a ‘central and key pillar’ for most of the business decisions encompassing all matters of legal counselling or tailoring of new solutions. Described as a ‘real powerhouse’ the UBS group team have been the legal minds behind some of the most high profile and significant matters facing the bank. Most recently the litigation and investigations team have handled the global investigations into LIBOR and foreign-exchange manipulation as well as cross-border tax matters that are ongoing in France. The team has maintained a reputation for its technical strength, efficient crisis-handling skills and experience in complex, multi-jurisdictional litigation cases and investigations. Over a sustained period they have been integral in a number of cross-border matters, including the US cross-border tax matters, Internal Revenue Service John Doe Summons litigation, and foreign exchange investigations. Wildhaber has impressed peers and clients alike with her great leadership skills and ability to highly motivate her team members. The team has become an increasingly respected team in the industry, fully independent in their thinking and opinions, which has led the business functions to build a trusted and integral relationship with legal.
